Jump wings with 6 combat stars!
Glenn Pearl sent me this photo of these jump master wings with 6 (!) combat stars that belonged to his dad, CSM Horace Pearl. He was with the 82nd Airborne, 505th PIR.
Four of these stars were earned in WWII and 2 in Korea: Normandy (St. Mere-Eglise), Holland, Sicily, Salerno, Pyong Yang, and Munsani, Korea.
Even though these are post-war jump master wings, I thought these extraordinary wings deserve to be shown here.
Wouldnt 6 combat jumps be denoted with 1 silver star on the risers? I’m not sure if there are many folks that have earned that, but I thought 1 jump was a bronze star on the risers, 2 would be on the lower wings, 3 1 on the risers and 2 on lower wings, 4 upper and lower wings, 5 upper, lower and 1 on the risers and 6, like most other awards, a silver star. Couldn’t find info anywhere else. Does that sound correct?
Hello Joe, I would love to hear about it if such a jump wing exists, with a credible story to back this up, but I have never heard of it. Kind regards, Wouter
